Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

Xtreme Prototypes : Learjet 20 V2.1 SE Released !!!

The SE stands for Special Edition !!! Xtreme Prototypes have released this new version of their Learjet 20 V2.1 SE. From the screens on their site they have produced a very highly detailed external and internal models of this initial model of a continued production business jet.

I must admit that the images of the VC are particularly beautiful with excellent rendering of all instruments, equipment and interior of the cockpit. The Virtual cabin itsn’t too shabby and I like the sixties pattern on the walls, cool.

Here is the basic description taken from their product page plus screens captured from the site also. More details on the model, systems etc are on the product page. Enjoy.

Price is quite high at US$49.95, but the quality looks great, lets hope the flight dynamics match.

Welcome to version 2.1 of our GLJ Model 25 Special Edition addon for Lockheed Martin® Prepar3D® and Microsoft® Flight Simulator X!

This release contains many new features and improvements over the previous version, including a fully redesigned fuel system, an enhanced autopilot, a revised flight model (tested by a real Learjet 25D pilot), new 3D sounds from the real aircraft, an updated 220-page flight manual and a new native version for Prepar3D® v4.x.

What’s new in version 2.1?

Nicknamed “fighters in civilian clothing” because of their sleek design and amazing performance, the classic Learjet 20 Series aircraft redefined business aviation during the 1960’s and 70’s, flying high above the weather at transonic speeds. Their capabilities earned them a place among the extreme aircraft, setting record after record. With the longer-range Gates Learjet Model 25D, from which this addon is inspired, came a longer cabin, increased seating capacity, more flexible loading options, greater fuel capacity and a rather sleek-looking stretched fuselage.

The Xtreme Prototypes GLJ Model 25 SE is a next generation addon optimized for the latest versions of our favorite simulation platforms and designed to take advantage of the new and more powerful personal computers and video cards that are available today. It is a complex aircraft simulator that features high resolution models and textures, hundreds of animations, over 50 sound effects, custom aircraft systems, and a fully analog, VR-ready virtual cockpit.

Nothing was spared in our efforts to reproduce the original instrument panels, carefully modelling and animating each mechanical device with all the necessary moving parts. Except for the GPS/dummy radar screens and the two optional panels, no flat 2D gauges are used in this model. Everything you see is in full 3D!

The result is a unique addon that strives to bring you the spirit and the actual feeling of flying such a high performance aircraft at a time when LCD screens, GPS and powerful computers didn’t exist and pilots needed to know how to fly and navigate with minimal resources and to rely on their own experience, abilities and judgment. This is how real-world Learjet 25 pilots are still flying this amazing aircraft today!

For the general aviation desktop pilot, being able to hop between small regional airports while passing airliners along the way is quite a thrill, but for the serious IFR enthusiast, we are confident this package will provide years of flying pleasure. Even if there are some differences between this add on and the real aircraft, mainly due to the current limitations in the available simulation platforms, nearly all systems, instruments, switches and knobs are fully functional in order to simulate complete procedures, from cold and dark to shutdown. We believe you will be thrilled by this new version as much as we are.
